The last two days in Kerala have been witnessing pathetic scenes with the death by now of 23 persons after drinking spurious liquor in the Malabar area.
The pity is that all of them are poor people.

17 soldiers killed, several missing in avalanche disaster
Srinagar : At least 16 Indian Army soldiers and a lieutenant were killed and 12 personnel injured when a massive avalanche struck a high altitude warfare training camp in Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir. Several others are missing. There were around 300 soldiers at the camp when the avalanche struck.
“A massive avalanche rolled down the Khilanmarg mountain, engulfing a high altitude warfare camp set up by the army,” the official said.
The injured soldiers have been shifted to a hospital. Rescue operations are going on in the north Kashmir district.
